Zanshin means both readiness and follow-through; it's the attitude of being ready for what happens and complete in how you react to it.

Zanshin (Japanese: 残心) is a term used in the Japanese martial arts. It refers to a state of awareness – of relaxed alertness. The literal translation of zanshin is "remaining mind".
In karate, zanshin is the state of total awareness. It means being aware of one's surroundings and enemies, while being prepared to react.
In the context of kendō, zanshin is the continued state of spirit, mental alertness and physical readiness to meet the situation (such as an opposing attack) that must be maintained when one returns to kamae after attacking. It is one of the essential elements that define a good attack.
During the practice of aikidō, the usual method of practicing zanshin is to focus on the just-thrown uke, or opponent, while holding kamae and maintaining awareness in case there are additional attacks or attackers. In Iwama Style training, zanshin is practiced as general awareness of one's surroundings, of which uke is just a small part.

O Treehugger revisita um artigo de 1999 do Guardian, que sugere a alteração de aviões militares para fazerem bombardeamentos de sementes. Acho que era uma boa, especialmente em zonas desérticas e zonas de condições climatéricas más, para onde se podiam transferir frutiferas e criar ecosistemas sustentáveis.

Ah sábado à noite, passar a noite com os meus pares... a Wikipedia claro ! hoje descobri que há uma teoria que diz que a linguagem que a pessoa fala influencia a sua maneira de pensar, e acrescentanto um ponto à teoria, talvez até a sua neurofisionomia !!! A isto chama-se a Hipótese de Sapir-Whorf.

Um filme da sony, com o Matt Damon...
Eu tenho uma teoria. A teoria é que este pessoal quer "limpar" todas as dúvidas(mas não as dividas) que possam existir que isto das crises tenha sido mais maquiavélico que o que se possa imaginar. Como tal mostram um cenário com gente má e feia a fazer maldades, mas não mostram a "big picture" do que está mesmo a acontecer.
Ou seja mostram que umas agências financeiras andaram a vender CDO(promessas de pagamento de casas subprime) e CDS(seguros contra falências) que levaram nações, inclusive a Europa à falência. Mas mostram estes casos como se fossem uma inevitabilidade do sistema capitalista (a trafulha).
Mas a realidade pode ser outra: por ex. os velhinhos do antigamente não quererem largar os tronos, mesmo sabendo a máxima do Marx: que o sistema capitalista iria desenvolver os robots que permitiriam à sociedade ter bens de consumo em abundância e poder-se tornar mais hedonista, e assim os velhinhos ficariam com um pior standard de vida. Então a forma de os velhinhos continuarem a "reinar" é mandar à falência o mundo inteiro. E esta eihm ?

Gostei do video, sobre uma possivel inteligência das plantas. Realmente as plantas são geniais, na forma como ocupam o seu espaço no mundo, sejam elas
1) grandes adaptações estéticas para a recepção de insectos, ex: as orquideas que emitam abelhas fêmeas para as abelhas macho as polinizarem
2) emitir os aromas de acucares como algumas plantas carnivoras.
3) constituir redes gigantes de raizes (sequoias ?). Para quê estas redes gigantes ? partilha de nutrientes ? expansão territorial ?
O que é misterioso para mim é o processo de evolução desta bicharada. Como é que elas sabem quais são as modificações que são mais vantajosas para si ? têm sensores limitados (luz,humidade,nutrientes,toque) mas não podem ver. Por exemplo uma venus fly trap que é uma perfeição absoluta na captura de insectos, será que a planta foi evoluindo acidentalmente até aquele ponto, ou algures no tempo os seus ancestores "decidiram" que desejavam ter caracteristicas especificas.
Outra coisa é a mimica. Como a planta sabe que tem que se parecer com X para ter mais hipoteses de sobreviver a Y ? isto implica que a planta sabe a relação entre X e Y certo ? e como é que se modifica para alcançar essa aparência ?
Ok, então as questões que ficam :
1) podem as plantas ter uma propriocepção (sentirem o seu estado) e uma actuação consciente sobre esse estado/aparência ?
2) como é que elas sabem como é o aspecto + cheiro de uma abelha ?
